I sent a request to Davey Phillips asking him to tell the story on a baseball about his memory of the Disco Demolition Game and this is what I got:

"Pine Tar Game Fiasco [He meant Disco Demolition] When we started to leave dress room for 2nd game [the] police stopped us and told us about chaos on field for first time"
"Veeck came in dressing room searching for me.  I had no idea there was any kind of promotion at all.  Told Sparky and Kessinger to be ready to play."
"Worst Promotion Ever.  I was crew chief and I went ot into stands to watch center field burn and fans running out of control."
"After police and ?? came, field was cleared but un-playable.  I called game.  Bill Veeck was furous with me.
