Vern Law
"1960 World Series"
I sent a request to Vern Law asking him to tell a story on a baseball about his memories of the 1960 World Series and this is what I got:
"Starting game of the 1960 World Series was a life time
thrill Mazeroki's HR capped a lifetime experience in baseball. Hal Smith's 3
run home-run was even bigger than Maz's HR but made it possible for him to be
in the Hall of Fame."
"If our relief pitchers could have held the Yankees scoreless, Hal Smith
would have been the hero of the Series."
Here
is a link to Wikipedia on the entire Series and specifically Game 7.
His teammate Hal Smith commented here.
